The Next Chapter

Valwood Park Baptist Church has been around for nearly 70 years. We were established in 1956 when Farmers Branch was a growing suburb on the edge of Dallas. We’ve had seven pastors during that time. We’ve experienced seasons of exciting growth, periods of change, and everything in between.

Since that time, the area has dramatically transformed from a small bedroom community with young families into a vibrant and diverse city with over one million residents. With such eclectic surroundings, our neighbors and friends possess unique sets of needs, challenges, and opportunities.

While the beautiful gospel of Jesus Christ will never change, how we engage with those around us must continually adapt. In recent years, we have struggled with this. In January 2025, we hired a new pastor who is passionate about seeing Valwood Park enter a season of greater health, richer worship, and exciting new outreach.

We are on a new journey toward remembering our hope in Christ, re-engaging those around us with the gospel, and reintroducing ourselves to the community. This new season comes with all kinds of new challenges and opportunities that we are excited to embrace.

If you’re looking for a new church home, we would love to meet you on Sunday or at an upcoming community event! You’ll probably notice that we are a work in progress when you arrive. Here’s what is happening:

A new student ministry launched in October 2025 after a six-year hiatus. We are blessed with fantastic facilities, but it has been years since we’ve had a vibrant student ministry. We have just relaunched Valwood Students. There are numerous opportunities ahead for 6th-12th graders to engage with God’s Word, have fun together, build community, and worship Christ. Currently, students meet on Sunday mornings but a Wednesday night gathering is coming soon!

Our worship services are transforming. We’ve been upgrading our systems, and we hired our new Director of Worship in the summer of 2025! As we move forward, you can expect expository preaching from God’s Word, times of singing that reflect the hope we have in Christ while encouraging participation, and opportunities to respond to what God is doing in your heart.

Valwood Park is leaving the building. There are numerous needs in the neighborhoods around us. Over the past year, we have launched new outreach initiatives to build relationships with our nearby friends, meet tangible needs, and introduce others to the gospel. These events have included (and will include) outdoor movie nights, free medical clinics, community event sponsorships, and more!

New people are partnering with us. There are new faces around and we’re excited about the individuals and families God is bringing into our church body.
